Templates is where your project’s templates live. Open a design you are working on, create a new template, or bring in an existing one from a ZIP file.
Choose New template when you want to build your own layout. Use Import when you already have a template shared with you or downloaded from Tembuilder. For a ready-made design to start from, browse Gallery.
1. Create a new template
Sign in, open your project, and go to Templates. Select New template at the top to open the creation dialog.
Fill in two details:
- Name: the label shown in the template list. Choose something you will recognize, such as Service invoice or Monthly report.
- Slug: a short name used in the template’s URL, such as
service-invoice. You can edit the suggested slug; use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.
Each template in a project needs its own slug. If a slug is already taken, choose another one to continue.
Select Create template. The new template opens in the editor, ready for you to start designing. You can find it in Templates when you return to the project.
Try changing the name below to see the suggested slug. Switch to Import to explore naming a template from a ZIP file.
In the app, the template opens in the editor after this step.
2. Import a template from a ZIP
Import is useful when someone shares a template with you, you want to reuse a design in another project, or you have a saved copy on your computer.
Start with a ZIP downloaded from Tembuilder, then:
- Select Import in Templates and choose the ZIP file.
- Enter a Name and Slug for the template you are adding.
- Select Import and wait for the upload and processing to finish.
The imported template opens in the editor. Giving it a name at this step helps you distinguish it from the templates already in your project.
Need a file to try? Download the invoice template (.zip) and follow the steps above. Keep the ZIP’s contents intact so the import has all the files it needs.
3. Download a template to use again
To keep a copy on your computer or move a design to another project, open the template in the editor, open Options, and select Download as zip.
The ZIP contains the template, ready to edit after importing. To use it in another project, open that project’s Templates and select Import with the downloaded file.
To download a generated PDF, open its result in Renders. Use Download as zip when you want to keep or move the template’s design.
4. Delete a template you no longer need
In Templates, open the template’s menu and choose Delete. The confirmation dialog asks you to enter its slug so you can check which template you are deleting.
Before deleting it, check whether it is still being used to generate PDFs. Download a ZIP copy if you want to keep the design for later.
After creating or importing a template, see the editor guide to start working on it.
